I came home tonight to find a lovely plant on my doorstep. From the lady whom we helped move out of her marital home. The note thanks me, and also says: 'Until you do it, you don't know what a relief it is.'

One of my blogging friends commented on a private post I wrote earlier with a sentence that hit me hard for its simplicity and clarity. I hope this friend will not mind if I copy it here, for the benefit of anybody out there who may have any doubts about it.

"From what I have seen, married people who seek attention/affairs ALWAYS claim they want to leave their partners but can't, for whatever reason. Married people who REALLY want to leave their partners do just that."

I must email this to my freshly moved-out friend.
